Besides managing the student refectories and cafeterias, the Mental Health Counselling Service (PPB), the child day-care centres, the student halls of residence, and arranging and awarding financial support to individual students, the Studentenwerk also provides the following important services:

• Support for elite student sportsmen and sportswomen by making it easier for them to balance their academic responsibilities with the demands of training and competition
• Negotiation of insurance cover for the benefit of students
• Awarding emergency loans for students in exceptional need
• Provision of rooms for student cultural events
• Loan pool of video and audio equipment available to the student halls of residence
